A mold base is the framework and substrate of an injection mold, which organically connects various parts of the mold into a whole. A standard mold base is generally composed of a fixed mold base plate, a fixed template, a moving template, a moving mold support plate, a cushion block, a moving mold base plate, a push rod fixing plate, a push plate, a guide pillar, a guide sleeve, and a reset rod. In addition, there are special structure mold bases, such as point gate mold bases, mold bases with push out plates, etc. Other parts in the formwork can be supplemented as needed, such as positioning devices, support columns, etc.
The standardization level of molds also reflects the level of development of a certain mold industry in a certain sense. Adopting standard mold bases and using standard parts can meet the needs of mass production of molds and shortening the mold manufacturing cycle. After a period of construction, the standardization level of injection molds in China has been continuously improving, and it is estimated that the coverage rate of standard mold parts in China has reached about 40%. The coverage rate of developed mold standard parts is generally around 80%. In order to adapt to the development of the mold industry, mold standardization work will be strengthened, the degree of mold standardization will be further improved, and the production of mold standard parts will also be developed.
1、 Standard Mold Base for Plastic Injection Moulds in China
At present, there has been some progress in the standardization of plastic molds in China. The 28 plastic mold standards jointly revised by Guilin Electrical Science Research Institute, Longji Group, Zhejiang Yalun Plastic Mold Co., Ltd., and Kunshan Zhongda Mold Co., Ltd., under the jurisdiction of the National Mold Standardization Technical Committee, have been implemented since April 1, 2007. The GB/T 12555-2006 "Plastic Injection Mold Base" combines large, medium, and small plastic injection mold bases into one standard. The basic structure of the mold base is divided into two types: straight gate type and point gate type. The direct gate type is further divided into four types: A, B, C, and D, while the point gate type is divided into four types: DA, DB, DC, and DD; Based on actual production, significant adjustments have been made to the combined dimensions of the mold base; Added types of mold base structures and listed 36 types of mold base structures; The installation form of the guide pillar and guide sleeve is listed in Appendix B of the standard.
In addition, the new standard also includes GB/T 4170-2006 "Technical Conditions for Plastic Injection Mold Parts", GB/T 8846-2005 "Terminology for Plastic Forming Moulds", GB/T 12554-2006 "Technical Conditions for Plastic Injection Molds", GB/T 12556-2006 "Technical Conditions for Plastic Injection Mold Holders", and GB/T 4169.1-4169.23-2006 "Plastic Injection Mold Parts". The characteristic of the new version of the injection mold standard is the modification of the size specifications of the mold base and parts, which is in line with the current production reality of the mold industry.
2、 Introduction to the Standard Mold Base for Plastic Injection Moulds Abroad
Developed industrial countries such as the United States, Germany, and Japan attach great importance to the standardization of molds. Standard mold bases have been widely adopted by the mold industry. Currently, the most popular standard mold bases in the world are:
(1) The D.M.E standard mold base in the United States: The D.M.E standard is one of the three major standards in the world mold industry. D.M.E Company was born in 1942 in the United States, mainly producing mold standard parts and hot runners. With the continuous expansion of production and sales, it has become a mold standard parts manufacturer in the world mold industry. The company's mold standard parts product sales network covers more than 70 foreign countries worldwide. The standard mold bases provided by the company are divided into seven series, namely A, AR, B, X5, X6, AX, and T. Among them, A, AR, and B series belong to single parting surface mold bases, X5, X6, and AX series belong to double parting surface mold bases, and T series belong to three parting surface mold bases.
(2) German Hassco's D.M.E standard mold base: Hassco produces standard mold base parts, and users can order processed or unprocessed mold base parts according to their own requirements and the combination form provided by the company to form the required mold base. As one of the three major production standards for mold accessories in the world, Hassco standard has the advantages of strong compatibility, simple design, easy installation, good interchangeability, reliable operation, stable performance, and compatibility with industrial standards of various countries. It is a widely covered mold accessory production standard worldwide. Hassco's standard products cover all mold accessories on the market, including stamping mold accessories, plastic mold accessories, etc., and a complete set of very detailed standard solutions have been formulated.
(3) Japan Double Leaf Standard Mold Base: Japan Double Leaf Electronics Industry Co., Ltd. provides nine series of standard mold bases, namely A, B, C, DA, DB, DC, EA, EB, EC. Among them, A, B, and C are mold bases for side gate feeding, while the others are mold bases for point gate feeding. DB and EB are mold bases launched using push plates, while DA, DC, EA, and EC are all mold bases launched using push rods.
(4) Japan Gold Profile Standard Mold Base: The standard mold base of Japan Gold Profile Co., Ltd. is divided into two series: S and P, where S belongs to the side gate feeding series and P belongs to the point gate feeding series. Each series is divided into two basic forms: A and B. On this basis, X and Y plates can be added to form two series of 12 types, totaling 15876 different combinations of mold bases.
